It is my understanding that Kaffir limes are not sufficiently hardy to grow outdoors through the UK winters and therefore my plant is container grown at home. Last year it was kept indoors in a bright location but the rate of growth was very slow. This year I will be moving the container out after the risk of frosts has passed to see if this achieves better growth. Due to the limited foliage on the plant I have only used a single leaf from the plant but the difference in flavour between the fresh leaf and the normal dried leaves has convinced me that this is a plant to preserve with.
09/05/2015: A band of self adhesive copper tape was added round the outside of the pot just below the rim and then the plant was relocated into the garden at home.
