Last year the arrowroot grew successfully, however, I only tried to harvest anything from them at the very end of the season and following some very odd cooking attempts I have only found the starchy main tuber useful for making arrowroot and then thickening sauces. Apparently the developing, new shoots are more palatable so I may try and harvest some of these this year.

I attempted to retain a stock of arrowroot plants over winter and the only method which seems to have worked was planting a few of the tubers into a large pot and growing them indoors over winter.

Hopefully the plants transplanted out onto the plot on 26/04/2015 will manage to establish and thrive.
